Our Setting and Provision at Kirkby Malzeard Pre-School

Set within the grounds of Kirkby Malzeard Primary School, Kirkby Malzeard Pre-School has the ideal location which incorporates outside space and free-flowing Early Years provision.

Since opening in 1995, at out current site, we continue to offer vital early years' care and education services for our local and wider community. We are able to provide Ofsted Registered Childcare for children from the age of 18 months until they begin the next step in their education journey, when they reach compulsory school age.

We are fortunate to have a fantastic outdoor space, linked to our indoor provision through glass doors, where children can further explore and investigate.

The outdoor space is complete with sand and water play, Mud Kitchens, quiet areas to sit, reflect and listen to one another, scooter and ride on toys, and much more.

We have areas for digging and our raised beds and water butt are there to support our growing areas. There are plenty of opportunities for den making and we set up different creative learning areas outside every day to encourage a continuous flow of activities from inside to out.

Indoors, we have one open, free-flowing space designed for children to access learning and development through play. The interior has various distinct areas, including:

Home corner

Construction area

Water play activities

Dressing up area

Painting corner

Activity table

Cosy book corner

Imaginative play

Pre-writing skills

Dough/clay table

Pre-maths skills

IPads

Craft area

Children have access to all of these areas during every session and the large range of equipment used in each area is rotated continuously.
